So, I decided that new boots would be a good idea..don't know why. I spontaneously ordered these. For the price and advertised quality (they're leather), no complaints here. Plus, don't they look a lot like Frye boots? Updates when they arrive.

Those Boots!
I'm seriously obsessed with this look. I've heard some call it trashy, but trash is in the eye of the beholder I guess. More importantly, I died over those Emma Cook for Topshop boots that she's wearing and so I did something...No, I didn't buy the boots (I wish), but I did head over to the Nine West and bought these. They came in the mail today and I have to say I'm not their biggest fan just yet. Something about the toe is still throwing me off. Hopefully, I'll come around after a bit more experimentation.

Bad News, Good News
So remember those awesome Target Manolo knockoffs that I was so stoked about getting, well I got them and turns out they don't fit. This always happend to me. The best cheap shoes are never in my size.
I'm super bummed, of course, but I did get three new pairs of shoes. Yes, THREE. Two pairs of Nine West boots and the most perfect pair of patent oxford heels (yes heels...I'm fearing these less and less). They are seriously the most amazing shoes that I've ever owned. I am so in love right now, I can hardly wait for cooler weather. These shoes need a test run, but it's still too warm to wear them just yet.
Here's a sneak peek of the most perfect pair of black boots I think I've ever owned. Should I point out how much I love these again? (apologies for the scuffed up wooden dorm room floors)

Sadly, this is the only shoe pic I have now. The others are coming soon, promise.

Duped

I've been obsessed with those Marc by Marc Jacobs boots since Rumi got hers ages ago. The shoes are fantastic but I probably would never wear them enough to justify purchasing them. Nine West has a pretty good dupe, big surprise there, but I'm just a click away from ordering these Payless copycats.

Doctor, Doctor
Finals week is over, well it is for me anyway. As of this afternoon I am free! I am currently celebrating the fact that I finally have all the time in the world to do everything that I missed out on this past semester. I've spent the past few hours watching movies, mindlessly wandering tFS, shopping, sleeping and now I'm *gasp* updating (I suppose I could have come up with a more random list of activitities)...
I'm also done with work, which means FREE WEEKENDS!!! I am beyond excited that I'll have the time to actually plan outfits, and maybe look nice for a change. This as opposed to the jeans, flats, and sweaters that have recently become like a uniform for me.
Problem is, I don't want to look nice. Just the opposite, actually. I really need, yes need, a pair of Doc Martins.

Anyone remember that semi-ugly shoe obsession I had a while back? Well, I've still got it.
The flat, rounded, almost clown-like appearance of the Docs is what I was after when I bought the boots from this post. Interestingly enough, the Timberland boots aren't quite as ugly as I'd hoped they would be. It looks like I might be the proud owner of some shiy new Doc Martin boots in the near future.

Under Construction
A few days ago, we had some snow here in NYC. The problem with snow in the city is:
1. Nothing closes...ever (this includes school!)
2. You still have to walk...everywhere, meaning good shoes are necessary!
Being from New York, I'm used to snowy weather. Still, for some reason I had no snow-appropriate boots. I do have many pairs of boots, but they have little to no traction and this can be hazardous...seriously. Slipping and sliding across snow and ice is no fun, regardless of how cute your shoes may be. Knowing this, I picked these up...
I've avoided Timberland boots for so long and for mainly aestheric reasons. Nothing says style like clunky work boots, right? I do seem to have had a change of heart...sort of. This black nubuck leather pair isn't too too bad. The (terrible) pic above does it little justice, but the material is actually pretty nice and the black-on-black color gives it a less construction-y feel. I'm thinking that it could be nice to wear them over jeans à la Milk or maybe with tights for a stylishly androgynous look. Oh, the possibilities...
It might be fun to do a look with flannel like MK below. You know, play up the theme. I think my boots would make the outfit a little more 90's grunge, though.

Another added bonus, great traction means no more slipping!

Ankle Boots
I have been looking for a great pair of ankle boots for a while and last night I stumbled upon this Aerosoles pair and bought it on the spot.

Stylish, but not too trendy...
The last pair that I bought from them got shipped, accidentally, to my parent's house ( I still haven't seen them in person). I only gave them one address this time, so hopefully they won't screw it up.

Victory!
I've finally done it. I've been looking for these boots (well, this style anyway) on and off for what seems like forever and now I finally own them.
The perfect mix of sophisticated and casual, don't you think?
I purchased them in black, but after seeing Oscar de la Renta's Fall '08 Ready-to-Wear line I think another pair in brown may not be such a bad idea.

Boots
After much contemplation, I finally bought these boots on sale and I think I got the last pair. This never happens.
I do still wish I'd gotten these. They are gorgeous. I really wanted the red and almost bought them, but I talked myself out of it. In the long run, I think the brown pair will be more versatile so it made more sense to buy that pair now. If, however, by some serrendipitious twist of fate I run into a pile of unclaimed money whilst strolling down 5th Avenue on my way to work, those red boots are mine!
Next on my list:
I am in love with the blue pair.
